Position Overview

The Security Risk Engineer (L4) & Data Analyst role is a hybrid position that sits at the intersection of risk engineering, data analytics, and strategic decision‑making. Reporting to the Head of Risk Analytics, you will design, develop, and operationalize quantitative risk models, translate complex data sets into actionable insights, and partner with cross‑functional teams to embed risk‑aware practices throughout arenaflex’s product and engineering pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end‑to‑end development of quantitative risk models (e.g., FAIR, Monte‑Carlo simulations, Bayesian networks) that inform security‑related product decisions.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to create data‑driven risk dashboards, executive briefings, and visualizations that clearly communicate threat exposure and mitigation effectiveness.
  • Design and maintain robust data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, and normalizing security‑related logs, incident reports, and vulnerability data from internal and external sources.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and compliance teams to embed risk‑assessment controls into CI/CD workflows, ensuring security considerations are baked into every release.
  • Conduct deep‑dive analyses of emerging threat vectors, translating technical findings into business‑impact narratives that guide investment priorities.
  • Develop and champion best‑practice documentation, risk‑assessment playbooks, and training materials that empower non‑technical stakeholders to understand and act on risk insights.
  • Participate in cross‑functional risk‑steering committees, providing quantitative input for strategic road‑maps and budget allocations.
  • Continuously evaluate and integrate new data‑science tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Spark) and security platforms (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, Snowflake) to enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Mentor junior analysts and data engineers, fostering a culture of curiosity, rigor, and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Security, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of professional experience in security risk analysis, data analytics, or a comparable field, with a proven track record of building and deploying quantitative risk models.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python or R for statistical modeling, advanced SQL for data extraction, and familiarity with data‑visualization libraries (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Plotly).
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), risk quantification methodologies (FAIR, CVSS), and incident‑response processes.
  • Analytical Acumen: Ability to translate raw data into clear, concise, and actionable business insights, with a focus on influencing senior decision‑makers.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting complex technical concepts to executive audiences.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrated success working in cross‑functional, matrixed environments, influencing stakeholders without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or advanced certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or a data‑science credential).
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud security data (AWS, GCP, Azure) and related logging services.
  • Familiarity with big‑data processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and modern data‑warehouse solutions.
  • Experience building automated risk‑assessment pipelines using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of machine‑learning techniques for anomaly detection and predictive threat modeling.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Quantitative Modeling: Ability to design, validate, and interpret statistical and probabilistic models that quantify risk exposure.
  • Data Engineering: Competence in constructing reliable ETL processes, data validation routines, and scalable storage solutions.
  • Problem‑Solving: A proactive mindset that seeks out hidden risk patterns and proposes innovative mitigation strategies.
  • Attention to Detail: Rigorous approach to data integrity, documentation, and reproducibility of analytical results.
  • Inclusivity & Teamwork: Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives enhance risk insight.
  • Self‑Direction: Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and drive initiatives forward with minimal supervision.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its employees. In this role, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior risk leaders and data‑science architects.
  • Sponsored certifications (e.g., CISSP, FAIR, AWS Security) and tuition reimbursement for advanced degrees.
  • Quarterly “Risk Innovation Days” where you can prototype new analytical approaches and present them to senior leadership.
  • Opportunities to transition into senior risk‑engineering, security‑architecture, or product‑strategy roles as you demonstrate impact.

arenaflex offers a competitive hourly rate of $27 per hour, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage with multiple plan options.
  • Generous paid time off, holidays, and flexible remote‑work policies.
