Roscoe Collegiate ISD is seeking a passionate and student-centered Middle School AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Teacher/Coach for the 20242025 school year. Position Overview The AVID elective teacher plays a key role in building a college-going culture through rigorous instruction, high expectations, and strong relationships. This role is ideal for an educator who is committed to helping students build academic skills, personal confidence, and a vision for their future. Key Responsibilities Lead with Vision: Design and implement a high-quality AVID elective course that prepares students for college and career success. Build a College-Going Culture: Collaborate with AVID students, parents, counselors, the District AVID Director, and teachers to promote a strong college and career readiness mindset. Maintain High Expectations: Establish a culture of academic excellence and high achievement for all AVID students. Monitor Progress: Collect and analyze student data to track academic performance and growth, providing timely interventions and support. Promote Rigorous Learning: Advocate for AVID students enrollment and success in advanced coursework. Implement WICOR Strategies: Teach and model Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR) strategies across all content areas. Collaborate with Tutors: Work closely with AVID tutors to ensure effective implementation of the AVID tutorial process. Support Campus Goals: Perform additional duties as assigned to support student achievement and school initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Valid Texas teaching certificate Strong understanding of AVID strategies and philosophy (preferred, training will be provided) Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills Commitment to fostering a growth mindset and supporting all students in achieving success Why Join Roscoe Collegiate High School?
