Technical Writer – Oilfield Equipment

* Our Oilfield Equipment Manufacturing/Services client is looking for a Contract to Hire, Technical Writer in Conroe, TX (100% onsite). You will be responsible for creating, editing, and illustrating various types of technical documents relating to standard products as well as improve the quality of documentation issued with projects for Brandt Products. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Independently research, write, rewrite, edit, and proofread technical material for engineering documentation and publications. • Determine the information required for each document and work with engineers, technicians, and other personnel to collect technical or procedural input. • Create and modify documents in MS Word and photographs in Photoshop. • Translate technical information into clear, readable documents. • Review documentation prepared by other department members to ensure editorial and technical quality. • Coordinate document production from initial concepts to hard and soft copy distribution. • Maintain configuration management of all text and graphic files, as well as any hard copy inputs that are used. • Create and maintain the style guide and procedures manual that meet the specific needs of Well Site Services. • Create technical document templates with the aid of provided examples. • Convert .pdf documents to Microsoft Word. • Be able to extract drawings and diagrams from AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks with little or no training. REQUIREMENTS: • BA in English, Communication, or technical related field in Engineering, with 5 years of experience in technical writing. • Five (5) years of experience in writing end-user procedure documentation. • Five (5) years of experience in MS Office Suite and Adobe Pro. • Familiarity with standard EN 82079-1:2020 is a plus (preparation of instructions for use - structuring, content, and presentation - part 1: general principles and detailed requirements) • Some knowledge of ACAD and Solid Works is a plus but not required. • Some knowledge of oilfield equipment is a plus but not required. • Previous knowledge of oilfield solids control equipment is a plus.
