Senior Advisor, Pollution & Public Health

Type of Position: Full- time, exempt Team: Campaigns Reports To: Chief Strategy Officer About This Role Climate Power has an immediate opening for a Senior Advisor to direct the organization's pollution and public health campaigns and to shine the brightest spotlight we can on the predatory practices of polluting industries, their profits, and the health impacts of their pollution. The senior advisor will work across the organization and with key partners to use hard-hitting earned and paid media, actionable research, and daily targeted political campaign tactics to build and execute Climate Power's campaigns to hold polluting industries accountable for health impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage pollution and public health campaign strategy, tactics, and implementation, including by driving the day-to-day work of cross-department campaign staff
  • Hold cross-team staff and self accountable for achieving metrics
  • Coordinate across Climate Power to align staff work and priorities with pollution and public health campaign goals and objectives
  • Manage Project Manager and consultants as needed
  • Set metrics for the pollution and public health campaign in collaboration with campaign staff and department leads
  • Anticipate needs for upcoming fights or key moments, and identify proactive opportunities for Climate Power engagement
  • Develop and manage campaign budget and support fundraising efforts related to their campaign
  • Steward relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as an "on the record" spokesperson for Climate Power as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as need and capacity dictates.

Essential Qualifications

  • 10 years of political experience, including issue advocacy experience.
  • 5 years of people and/or project management experience; expertise in leading departments and diverse teams and managing complex projects.
  • Experience leading work with partners and allied organizations and coalitions across the progressive community; experience working with climate and environmental groups required.
  • Experience working with high profile stakeholders, including managing meetings and agendas, and owning day-to-day interactions.
  • Ability to build consensus, resolve conflicts, and effectively manage interdepartmental communication
  • Ability to foster trust and confidence from and among peers
  • Ability to build and sustain collaborative campaigns
  • Excels in collaboration with co-workers to produce ideas, meet deadlines, and reach goals
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong strategic campaign and writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced campaign environment with unpredictable hours in high-pressure situations.

The full salary range for this role is listed below, with a given set of years correlating to a fixed 'step' or placement within a salary range. Location & Hours of Operations Climate Power is a remote-first organization based in Washington, DC. This position can be located anywhere in the United States, but must be able to work Monday - Friday 9 am - 6 pm EST, plus weekends and evenings as the work dictates. Occasional travel is required as needed, typically 3-4 times per year. Our interview process generally involves 2 rounds of interviews, ranging in length from 30-60 minutes. All interviews will be conducted via Google Meet or Zoom.
