Legal Expert Reviewer & Quality Consultant
Work Location: US, remote Engagement Model: Freelancer / Independent Contractor Project duration: 3 months (with potential extension) Work Schedule: Flexible hours, based on the applicant's availability Language skills required: English Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Legal Consultant with extensive practice experience to oversee the quality and accuracy of legal datasets used for AI training. This is a high-level advisory and quality control role. You will be the final authority on whether the AI’s legal reasoning meets the rigorous standards of the profession. Instead of just checking facts, you will perform Senior-Level Quality Audits to identify where instructions may be legally ambiguous and ensure that the work produced by other contributors is professional, jurisdictionally accurate, and practically sound.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Oversight: Review and refine the guidelines used to train the AI, ensuring they align with standard legal practices and terminology. Expert Review: Audit complex legal outputs to identify errors in logic, jurisdictional nuance, or statutory interpretation. Root-Cause Analysis: When inconsistencies arise in the data, determine if the issue is a flawed instruction, a misunderstood prompt, or a gap in the evaluation criteria. Professional Alignment: Ensure the AI’s work product reflects the standards expected of a Senior or Lead Counsel in a professional setting.
Required Qualifications
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM). Bar Admission (current or former) in good standing is required. Experience: 20+ years of legal experience. We are seeking individuals who have served as Senior In-House Counsel, Lead Litigators, or similar senior leadership roles within the legal field. Communication: Ability to explain complex legal nuances to non-legal technical teams in a clear, practical manner. Technical Proficiency and Professional Standards: Senior Legal SME Generative AI Awareness: A practical understanding of how AI tools are used for legal research, contract drafting, and case summaries. Ethical Oversight: Knowledge of the ethical considerations regarding AI in legal practice, specifically around data privacy, client confidentiality, and professional conduct. Technical Translation: The ability to convert complex legal nuances and jurisdictional rules into clear, structured guidelines for technical teams. Legal Tech Experience: Familiarity with professional systems such as eDiscovery platforms, Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) software, or advanced legal research databases like Westlaw and LexisNexis. Strategic Significance In this role, you will apply your decades of experience to ensure that Generative AI tools are built on a foundation of professional excellence. Your expertise will be the final benchmark for quality, ensuring that these models provide accurate, reliable, and pedagogically sound assistance to users worldwide.
