  Job title: Assistant Professor in Computational Materials Physics Company: University of Florida Job description : Classification Title: Assistant Professor Job Description: The Department of Physics at the University of Florida (UF) seeks a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Computational Materials Physics to begin August 16, 2024. Applications are encouraged from highly qualified candidates in all areas of computational materials physics, including but not limited to those exploring quantum-mechanical, atomistic, and/or multiscale simulations of materials. We seek a person who has demonstrated the ability to advance materials-specific theory, implement those advancements computationally, and apply them to important materials problems. The successful candidate will complement existing interdisciplinary research both within and outside the Department. Specifically, this person will be affiliated with the Quantum Theory Project (QTP), a multi-disciplinary institute for theory, modeling and computation of complex, novel materials and their molecular constituents. With members from the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, and Computer & Information Sciences & Engineering, QTP has unusual breadth and integration. QTP also operates the world-renowned Sanibel Symposia. Members enjoy access to the high-performance computational facilities. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related field and have strong postdoctoral research experience. A well-recognized research program with a compelling plan for future research and clear potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body, are essential.
