The Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) is seeking to hire a talented, highly motivated student to assist with data management, analysis, and visualization using various business intelligence tools. This position will help FI$Cal better serve the people of California by unlocking key insights in our data and sharing it internally, with state departments, and with the public. The student assistant will also work within FI$Cal’s Government Affairs Office, Data Analytics Section and report to the Staff Services Manager I. The student assistant will be working with a variety of teams and staff at FI$Cal, including the Information Technology Division and the Business Operations and Solutions Division, among others. Requirements: Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Python, R, or SQL (preferred but not required). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
