Accounts Payable Associate

Job Summary Completes and resolves expense code discrepancies, voucher preparations, and the issuance of payment checks. Maintains acceptable customer service levels. Performs a combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying data in order to obtain primary financial data for maintaining account records. Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities Codes invoices and accounts, reconciles and researches customer information, and processes account transactions to ensure quality output and timely invoice payments. Analyzes exceptions, reviews correspondence for follow-up, and routes unresolved items to appropriate departments. Performs research and reconciliation functions to update and maintain account information. Performs basic data entry in department systems. Monitors and flags expense reports for policy exceptions or violations. Clears and matches account information and processes expenses and vendor payments. Opens and sorts mail by document type, such as invoice, statement, correspondence, or check. Batches and prepares invoices for scanning. Scans invoices into system for payment processing. Researches and routes unscanned mail to other business lines for processing. Performs clerical functions necessary to support Accounts Payable. Nature and Scope Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor. Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor. None.
Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. No travel required. Education and Experience HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior Accounts Payable experience is required. Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Functional business Excel skills are required. Oracle A/P and/or Coupa experience is highly desired. Strong attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Quick learner who shows ability to work independently. Strong problem solver.
