Senior Global Trade Specialist

As a Senior Global Trade Specialist, you will support IDEXX’s global trade and compliance operations through ownership of tariff strategy, customs compliance activities, and trade finance coordination across the U.S. and Canada. This role is fully remote, with preference for candidates able to support standard East Coast business hours. The Global Trade and Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring IDEXX products move efficiently and compliantly through global markets while supporting operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and business growth across our worldwide distribution network. In this role: You will lead tariff strategy activities, monitor changing global trade policies, and assess potential business impacts across IDEXX operations. You will manage import/export audit filings in partnership with customs brokers to support compliance with U.S. and Canadian trade regulations. You will monitor tariff landscapes and proactively communicate regulatory updates, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders across the business. You will own tariff refund processes and support the accurate and timely recovery of duties and trade-related expenses. You will administer and maintain free trade agreement programs and supporting documentation. You will maintain compliant trade records in alignment with global trade regulations and internal policies. You will support intercompany trade finance activities, including pricing alignment and trade-related financial coordination. You will maintain accurate product pricing information related to customs, tariffs, and trade activities. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Treasury, Distribution, customs brokers, and international colleagues to support efficient global operations. You will build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and help translate complex trade and regulatory information into clear, actionable guidance. You will support continuous improvement initiatives related to compliance processes, reporting, automation opportunities, and operational efficiency. You will help identify opportunities to improve trade workflows using digital tools, automation, and process enhancements using automation. What you need to succeed: You have 5–7 years of experience supporting import/export regulatory compliance activities (required). You have hands-on experience managing import/export operations within the United States (required). You have working knowledge of U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations (required). You have working knowledge of customs law, tariff strategy, and trade finance principles (required). You have strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex trade, financial, and regulatory information into clear and actionable insights (required). You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence, educate, and collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple business functions (required). You have experience building relationships and working cross-functionally with stakeholders such as Procurement, Treasury, Distribution, Finance, and external customs brokers (required). You have advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience using pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis functions (required). You have strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to reprioritize effectively in a fast-paced and evolving regulatory environment (required). You have strong attention to detail and experience maintaining compliance and accurate records across multiple workstreams (required). You are comfortable managing multiple priorities independently while driving projects and compliance activities forward with minimal direction (required). You have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred). You are a Licensed Customs Broker (CBL) (preferred). You have experience supporting import/export processes within Canada (preferred). You have knowledge of HTSUS classification and country-of-origin audit requirements (preferred). You have experience reviewing contracts for trade compliance risks and requirements (preferred). You have experience working within SAP or similar ERP platforms (preferred). You have experience improving and automating processes using digital tools, reporting solutions, or AI-enabled technologies (preferred). You have an in-depth understanding of U.S. and international trade laws and global trade compliance best practices (preferred).
