[Remote] Full Stack Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. MyFriendBen is on a mission to help people access the public benefits they've earned. They are seeking a Full Stack Engineer to build and scale their product, working across the full stack to create intuitive user interfaces and robust backend systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain features across our React frontend and Python backend
- Collaborate with Product and Design to translate user needs into thoughtful, well-crafted software
- Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews
- Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape engineering best practices
- Debug and improve the reliability and performance of existing systems
- Work in a fast-paced, iterative environment with a strong bias for impact
Skills
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proficiency in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Solid experience with Python (backend APIs, data processing, or similar)
- Comfort with relational databases and writing efficient queries
- Experience with RESTful or GraphQL APIs
- Strong debugging skills and a thoughtful approach to testing
- Collaborative team player who communicates clearly and gives/receives feedback well
- Passion for building technology that serves underrepresented communities is a big plus
- Experience with government technology, benefits access, or civic tech
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Prior work in a startup or mission-driven organization
