Role Overview – Customer Development Manager (B2C)

The Customer Development Manager (B2C) is the strategic driver behind arenaflex’s partnership with one of the world’s largest retail chains. This remote‑first role (with a preference for candidates located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area) is responsible for leading all sales‑related activities, from relationship building and category growth to budget execution and trade investment management. The ideal candidate will blend analytical rigor with creative problem‑solving to expand arenaflex’s shelf presence, drive revenue, and deepen brand affinity across the retailer’s nationwide network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Relationship Management: Build and nurture high‑impact relationships with senior decision‑makers within the retailer, focusing on divisional wins such as premium displays, expanded distribution, and increased all‑commodity volume (ACV).
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with arenaflex’s Customer Strategy, Finance, and Customer Service teams to align on joint objectives and ensure seamless execution of initiatives.
  • Market Insight & Go‑to‑Market Planning: Develop a deep understanding of the retailer’s category management strategy, leveraging syndicated data to inform pricing, promotional tactics, and assortment decisions.
  • Budget & Forecast Management: Own the annual budget plan, new‑product distribution targets, and trade investment forecasts, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals.
  • Growth Opportunity Identification: Proactively uncover new growth avenues, craft strategic sales plans, and present actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Customer Education & Presentation: Deliver compelling presentations that showcase product innovation, shelf positioning, promotional calendars, and pricing strategies.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily business activities—including UPC setup, inventory management, logistics coordination, and contract administration—to guarantee flawless product availability.
  • Trade Investment Management: Input and manage trade fund data within arenaflex’s CRM platforms (TIM and Osprey), ensuring accurate forecasting and ROI analysis.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Produce monthly sales analytics, insights, and performance dashboards that drive data‑informed decision‑making.
  • P&L Ownership: Manage profit and loss responsibilities for the assigned account, balancing revenue growth with cost efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify process enhancements, champion best practices, and mentor junior team members to elevate overall account performance.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Psychology, or a related discipline (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience, with at least 2 years leading large B2C accounts (experience with the retailer is strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record in grocery, drug‑store, or mass‑retail channels, demonstrating successful category expansion and revenue growth.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM systems for trade investment management.
