About arenaflex – Innovating the Future of Data‑Driven Business

arenaflex is a global leader in consumer‑focused technology solutions, delivering cutting‑edge digital experiences to millions of customers every day. With a heritage of more than a century in the industry, arenaflex has continuously re‑imagined how data can power smarter decisions, richer customer interactions, and sustainable growth. Our mission is to harness the power of data to transform everyday moments into meaningful experiences, and we do it by building a culture that celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Why This Role Matters

As a Remote Entry‑Level Spark Data Engineer you will join a high‑performing analytics team that sits at the heart of arenaflex’s digital transformation. This is not a simple data‑entry job; you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines that enable real‑time insights for product managers, marketers, and senior leadership. Your work will directly influence how arenaflex scales its services, optimizes operations, and delivers personalized experiences to customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & develop data pipelines: Build scalable, testable, and efficient ETL processes using Apache Spark, Python, and Scala to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources.
  • Data modeling & visualization: Create logical and physical data models, and develop dashboards with Power BI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy to surface actionable insights.
  • Collaborate in Agile Scrum teams: Participate in daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, delivering incremental value and high‑quality code each iteration.
  • Data extraction & integration: Work closely with cross‑functional technology teams to extract, cleanse, and load data from relational (SQL) and non‑relational (NoSQL, JSON, CSV) sources.
  • Code lifecycle management: Write, test, version‑control, and deploy code using Git, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines (GoCD, Azure DevOps, Terraform).
  • Mentorship & knowledge sharing: Support junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to internal technical documentation.
  • Performance monitoring & troubleshooting: Use logging, alerting, and profiling tools to ensure data pipelines run reliably and meet SLAs.
  • Stakeholder communication: Translate technical concepts into clear business language for product owners, data analysts, and IT partners.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience writing production‑grade code and building data pipelines.
  • Hands‑on experience with Apache Spark and at least one programming language such as Python, Scala, or R.
  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with NoSQL data stores (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Experience with data‑visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy.
  • Solid understanding of ETL concepts and tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend).
  • Exposure to CI/CD practices and tools (Git, GitHub, GoCD, Azure DevOps, Terraform).
  • Strong grasp of Agile Scrum methodologies, version control, and test‑driven development.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Experience developing cloud‑native applications on Microsoft Azure, especially with Azure Data Services (Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for scalable data workloads.
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Java, Node.js, or C#.
  • Previous work in a globally distributed team, collaborating across time zones and cultural boundaries.
  • Exposure to project‑management tools like Jira or Azure Boards.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead small technical initiatives.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems, identify root causes, and propose elegant solutions.
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and persuasive articulation of technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in cross‑functional environments and values diverse perspectives.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating fast‑changing priorities, new technologies, and evolving business requirements.
  • Ownership: Proactive attitude toward delivering end‑to‑end solutions, from design through production support.
  • Continuous learning: Commitment to staying current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging data technologies.

Learning & Development Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the growth of its people. As a member of our data engineering team you will have access to:

  • Annual learning stipend for certifications, conferences, or online courses (e.g., Coursera, Pluralsight, Udacity).
  • Mentorship programs pairing you with senior architects and data scientists.
  • Internal hackathons and innovation sprints that encourage experimentation with AI/ML, streaming analytics, and serverless architectures.
  • Rotational assignments across product, marketing, and supply‑chain analytics to broaden business acumen.
  • Regular technical brown‑bag sessions, lunch‑and‑learns, and community of practice meet‑ups.

Compensation, Perks & Benefits

While exact figures may vary based on location and experience, arenaflex offers a competitive total‑reward package that includes:

  • Base salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
