Why This Role Matters

As a Data Scientist on the Research & Innovation Transformation team, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of health services. You’ll design and implement analytical frameworks that drive operational efficiency, enhance automation, and improve the member experience across arenaflex’s extensive network. This is a remote, full‑time position that offers a competitive hourly rate of $26, flexible 8‑hour workdays, and the chance to collaborate with top talent from New York and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy predictive models and statistical algorithms to optimize processes within the Health Care Benefits (HCB) ecosystem.
  • Design and maintain data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, and transform structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including Product, Operations, and Business Intelligence—to translate business problems into analytical solutions.
  • Identify and quantify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains, delivering actionable recommendations that reduce costs and improve member satisfaction.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and insights that inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Create clear, visual dashboards and reports that communicate complex findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Stay current with emerging data science techniques, tools, and best practices, and proactively introduce innovative approaches to the team.
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with a strong emphasis on data manipulation libraries (pandas, dplyr, etc.).
  • Hands‑on experience with SQL for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, evaluate, and deploy predictive models (regression, classification, time‑series, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and the ability to craft compelling visual narratives.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a track record of turning ambiguous business challenges into structured analytical projects.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big‑data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with machine‑learning frameworks such as Scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Background in healthcare analytics, claims processing, or health‑care operations.
  • Knowledge of data‑governance, privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR) and best practices for secure data handling.
  • Certification in data science or analytics (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning, Google Data Engineer).

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex datasets, identify root causes, and propose data‑driven solutions.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in a remote, cross‑functional environment, building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑changing industry, quickly learning new tools and techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to data integrity, accuracy, and reproducibility of analytical work.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of how analytical outcomes translate into operational improvements and cost savings.

  • Mentorship programs pairing you with senior data leaders across the organization.
  • Annual learning stipend for conferences, certifications, or advanced coursework.
  • Opportunities to lead high‑visibility projects that directly influence corporate strategy.
