Our mission is to empower creators, engineers, and partners to bring stories to life through cutting‑edge tools, robust platforms, and collaborative ecosystems. As a remote‑first organization, arenaflex embraces flexibility, diversity, and continuous learning, offering a vibrant workplace where every employee can thrive, innovate, and make a tangible impact on the future of entertainment.

Why This Role Matters

Our external content creation teams rely on sophisticated toolsets to produce, edit, and publish high‑quality media. The External Support Engineer serves as the critical bridge between these creative teams and the internal engineering groups that build and maintain the tools. By providing timely technical assistance, crafting clear documentation, and championing workflow improvements, you will directly influence the efficiency, reliability, and overall success of arenaflex’s content pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Act as the first point of contact for external content teams encountering issues with arenaflex’s proprietary tools, delivering prompt, accurate, and courteous assistance.
  • Documentation & Training: Create and maintain reference guides, tutorials, and onboarding materials that enable partners to quickly become proficient with the toolset.
  • Issue Diagnosis & Resolution: Debug tool‑related problems, reproduce bugs, and implement work‑arounds to minimize downtime for creators.
  • Escalation Management: Identify complex or high‑impact issues, log them in JIRA, and collaborate with the tool development team to ensure timely resolution.
  • Advocacy & Feedback Loop: Gather constructive feedback from external teams, translate it into actionable improvement proposals, and advocate for enhancements that boost productivity.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with software engineers, product managers, and quality assurance specialists to design and refine tools that meet real‑world production needs.
  • Feature Development Guidance: Participate in cross‑disciplinary discussions, helping to shape feature concepts from ideation through delivery.
  • Professional Conduct: Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and professionalism in all interactions, fostering trust across internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Tool Support Experience: Proven experience supporting live services or tool environments, preferably in a media‑production context.
  • Programming Insight: Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot C# code, enabling effective communication with development teams.
  • Unity Expertise: Hands‑on experience with Unity 3D for game and tool development, including familiarity with its editor extensions and scripting pipeline.
  • Issue Tracking Proficiency: Comfortable using JIRA, Confluence, or comparable defect‑tracking platforms to log, prioritize, and monitor bugs.
  • Mobile Development Knowledge: Exposure to iOS and Android development environments, providing a broader perspective on cross‑platform tool usage.
  • Production‑Level Coding: At least five years of delivering production‑ready code in a professional setting, demonstrating a strong grasp of software lifecycle best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment, showcasing strong self‑management and communication skills.
  • Background in media production, digital content creation, or a related creative discipline.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace) and version‑control systems such as Git.
  • Demonstrated ability to author clear, concise technical documentation and deliver engaging virtual training sessions.
  • Passion for staying current with emerging technologies in streaming, real‑time rendering, and interactive media.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of translating technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Problem‑Solving: Analytical mindset with a systematic approach to diagnosing and resolving complex tool issues.
  • Organization: Superior organizational abilities, enabling you to juggle multiple requests, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Team‑oriented attitude, eager to partner with engineers, product owners, and creative partners to drive shared success.
  • Positive Attitude: Resilient, open‑minded, and receptive to feedback, fostering a constructive environment for continuous improvement.
  • Self‑Motivation: Proactive and autonomous, capable of thriving without micromanagement while maintaining high standards of quality.

  • Mentorship from senior engineers and product leaders who will guide your technical and career progression.

  • Opportunities to transition into specialized roles such as Tool Development Engineer, Product Owner, or Technical Program Manager.
  • Participation in industry conferences, hackathons, and knowledge‑sharing sessions that keep you at the forefront of entertainment tech.
  • Cross‑functional project assignments that broaden your skill set and expose you to the full lifecycle of content production.
