Remote Data Center Operations Technician – Hardware, Server & Linux Network Infrastructure Specialist

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Join arenaflex: Build the Backbone of Tomorrow's Digital World

At arenaflex, we believe that the most powerful digital experiences are built on an extraordinary foundation of physical infrastructure. As a globally recognized technology innovator, arenaflex is committed to designing, deploying, and maintaining the critical hardware and network systems that power billions of online interactions every single day. Our Technical Infrastructure division is the silent force behind every search query, every streamed video, every cloud-based application, and every connected experience our users depend upon.

We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Remote Data Center Operations Technician to join our Hardware Operations team. This is not a routine data entry position — it is a hands-on, technically challenging role for professionals who are passionate about server hardware, network architecture, and Linux-based systems. If you thrive in environments where precision matters, where complex troubleshooting is a daily exercise, and where your work directly impacts the performance of global technology platforms, this opportunity at arenaflex is built for you.

About the Role

As a Remote Data Center Operations Technician at arenaflex, you will be an essential member of the team responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the physical infrastructure that supports our vast technology ecosystem. Your work will involve the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of server hardware, networking equipment, and Linux-based operating systems.

You will work with cutting-edge server clusters, advanced networking protocols, and sophisticated routing equipment. Beyond routine upkeep, you will participate in complex technical initiatives, lead small project teams during large-scale installations, and develop contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. This role combines the rigor of systems engineering with the practical demands of physical infrastructure management — and yes, you should be prepared for the occasional physically demanding task, including manual movement and installation of server racks.

While this position is designated as remote, you will collaborate with global teams, participate in virtual incident response, and contribute to infrastructure projects that span multiple time zones and geographies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to ongoing efforts and strategic initiatives focused on the deployment, maintenance, and support of existing and emerging data center infrastructure across arenaflex's global footprint.
  • Participate in complex troubleshooting activities and resolve critical technical issues that may impact service availability, performance, or reliability.
  • Test, validate, and troubleshoot new server hardware components, network equipment, and architectural designs before full-scale deployment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain large-scale networking equipment including switches, routers, hubs, bridges, and other essential network components.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Linux operating system issues, including kernel-level diagnostics, package management, and performance optimization.
  • Operate within data center or network operations center environments, following established protocols and contributing to operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to overcome technical challenges and deliver infrastructure projects on schedule.
  • Lead or participate in small project teams during major installations, ensuring that project plans, milestones, and contingency strategies are properly executed.
  • Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and infrastructure configurations to support knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging hardware technologies, networking standards, and best practices in data center operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in the upkeep, maintenance, and tracking of server systems, running systems, or networking protocols within a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of server infrastructure at scale.
  • Prior experience working in a data center, network operations center (NOC), or similar mission-critical infrastructure environment.
  • Strong familiarity with Linux-based operating systems, command-line tools, and system administration practices.
  • Ability to work remotely while maintaining consistent communication and collaboration with distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware or network-related issues using Linux-based diagnostic tools and utilities.
  • Proven ability to operate autonomously, manage multiple competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams to overcome complex challenges.
  • Capability to manage ambiguity, adapt to shifting priorities, and convert evolving business needs into actionable technical solutions.
  • Experience leading small project teams or contributing as a key contributor to large-scale infrastructure deployments.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, TCP/IP, routing configurations, and enterprise-grade switching equipment.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), or equivalent credentials are a plus.

Essential Skills and Competencies

Success in this role at arenaflex requires a balanced blend of technical expertise, problem-solving aptitude, and interpersonal capability. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Technical Depth: A solid understanding of server hardware architecture, networking fundamentals, and Linux operating systems.
  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to diagnose complex issues, evaluate multiple data points, and arrive at effective solutions under pressure.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision is critical when working with mission-critical infrastructure; small errors can have significant consequences.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and the dynamic nature of global infrastructure operations.
  • Communication Skills: Clear, concise written and verbal communication to document procedures, escalate issues, and collaborate with remote teams.
  • Time Management: The ability to prioritize effectively, manage competing demands, and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Team Orientation: A collaborative mindset that values knowledge sharing, peer support, and collective success.
