Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking a compassionate, qualified, and enthusiastic Social‑Emotional Learning (SEL) Intervention Teacher to provide small‑group, Tier 2 support for K‑8 students in the Chattanooga, TN area. This role is designed as a very part‑time position—approximately four hours per week, with a preference for Fridays—allowing you to make a meaningful impact while maintaining flexibility in your schedule. You will work on‑site at one of our five partner schools, delivering a proven curriculum that targets identified skill deficits and helps students achieve on‑level academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver SEL and academic intervention instruction to small groups (typically 4‑8 students) across multiple grade levels (K‑8) using arenaflex’s research‑based curriculum and the gradual release model.
  • Plan, prepare, and execute lesson plans that align with each student’s individualized learning goals, ensuring relevance to reading, mathematics, writing, and social‑emotional competencies.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive classroom environment; supervise students at all times, escort them safely between learning stations, and manage any light lifting or stair navigation required.
  • Collect, analyze, and enter data promptly—including attendance, pre‑ and post‑assessment results, progress reports, and compliance documentation—to inform instructional decisions and meet district reporting requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with arenaflex supervisors, classroom teachers, school principals, and families to coordinate interventions, share student progress, and address any concerns.
  • Schedule and lead parent/guardian conferences, providing clear updates on student growth and next steps for continued support.
  • Maintain accurate student records and files in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as arenaflex’s internal policies.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development sessions, collaborative planning meetings, and quality‑assurance reviews to continuously improve instructional practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of arenaflex’s mission and the schools we serve.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience: Demonstrated classroom teaching, tutoring, or internship experience; experience with SEL or intervention models is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility: Willingness and ability to teach across a broad range of grade levels (K‑8) and adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with virtual collaboration tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams is preferred.
  • Passion: A genuine commitment to supporting students’ social‑emotional growth and academic achievement.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Competencies

  • Certification in SEL, trauma‑informed instruction, or related professional development.
  • Experience with data‑driven instruction and progress monitoring tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and school staff.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in collaborative team environments.
  • Physical ability to navigate school facilities, including climbing stairs and handling light equipment.

Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Instructional Design: Ability to translate curriculum standards into engaging, student‑centered lessons.
  • Behavior Management: Proficiency in establishing clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices.
  • Analytical Thinking: Skill in interpreting assessment data to adjust instruction and set realistic goals.
  • Collaboration: Comfort partnering with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to create cohesive support plans.
  • Adaptability: Capacity to pivot instructional approaches based on real‑time feedback and evolving student needs.
