Amharic, Tigrinya and/or Lingala Interpreters - Dayton, OH

Vocalink Global is a multilingual services company serving multiple industries since 1995. Vocalink enables brands to be heard and understood, across cultures, on a global scale, through translation, interpretation and cultural adaptation. Our interpreting services are designed to help organizations bridge the language and cultural gap between their staff, Limited English Speaking and d/Deaf or hard of hearing clients and patients. We are currently seeking Amharic, Tigrinya, and/or Lingala interpreters in Dayton, OH. We offer competitive wages commensurate with skills and experience. Minimum Qualifications:

• Native or near-native fluency in English and in a second language
• Successfully pass drug screen
• Successfully pass background check
• High school diploma or higher education; Associates Degree or higher required for ASL
• Authorization to work in the Unites States
• Reliable transportation
• Access to computer, cell phone, and reliable internet connection
• Excellent references
• Previous professional interpretation experience (medical, legal, education, specialty, etc.)
• Documented successful education in the following areas: anatomy & physiology, court/legal proceeding and terms, medical terminology, industry specific terminology/practices, etc.
• The successful submission and acceptance of all medical documentation outlined below:
• MMRs (Measles/Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella)
• MMR1 -and- MMR2 -or- MMR Titers (must show immune to all 3);
• Varicella
• VAR1 -and- VAR2 -or- VAR Titers -or- Proof of Chickenpox (must be noted in a written record with date had disease);
• Hepatitis B
• Vaccine -or- Titers (must show immune);
• Flu Shot (Seasonal. During season, must be dated between 8/1 and 10/31. Medical and religious accommodation to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.);
• TB Testing. ONE of the following FOUR:
• Negative Skin Test (dated within 12 months pre-hire),
• Negative blood test (dated within 12 months pre-hire),
• Positive Skin Test (dated anytime), or
• Negative Chest X-ray (within 12 months pre-hire)
• History of BCG
• Negative Chest X-ray (within 12 months pre-hire);

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous professional interpretation experience (medical, legal, education, specialty, etc.)
• National Certification

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Consecutive mode of interpretation required for assignments (not paraphrasing).
• All interpreters provide on-site and/or audio/video remote interpreting in medical, social service, government, and/or business arenas. All interpreters are responsible for their own travel to and from appointments.
• Interpreters must render a complete and accurate interpretation or sight translation by reproducing in the target language the closest natural equivalent of the source language message, without altering, omitting, or adding anything to the meaning of what is stated or written, and without explanation.
• Interpreter must maintain and improve his/her interpreting skills through professional training or education in the interpretation field.
• Interpreters must maintain a neat and professional appearance.
• Interpreters must adhere to data and reporting standards (timesheet submission, etc.)
• Medical interpreters must comply with healthcare worker standards with respect to medical testing, immunity, and vaccination history.
