The Role We’re hiring a VP of People Operations to design and lead our HR and recruiting functions from the ground up. From modernizing systems and overhauling benefits to crafting a standout employee experience, this is a pivotal role that blends strategy and execution. You’ll report directly to senior leadership and be a partner across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

HR Infrastructure & Compliance

  • Evaluate our existing PEO and provide a recommendation if we should move to an alternative
  • Identify and implement modern HR technology to replace paper-based processes
  • Redesign benefits offerings and lead open enrollment with clear, accessible communication
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and aviation-specific HR regulations

Employee Experience & Culture

  • Launch a values-based onboarding program across departments and locations emphasizing culture
  • Support internal communications including a monthly newsletter and company-wide updates
  • Develop and manage programs that improve engagement, retention, and morale

Performance Management & Manager Enablement

  • Create and implement performance review systems and documentation tools
  • Establish clear procedures for performance issues and corrective actions
  • Train managers on people leadership, feedback, and accountability

Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with department leaders to assess hiring needs and recruitment strategies
  • Lead or oversee external recruiting partnerships and internal hiring practices
  • Improve the candidate experience across all stages of the hiring funnel

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years in progressive HR leadership roles
  • Experience building HR operations and tech from the ground up
  • Proven success in PEO/vendor evaluation and negotiation
  • Strong background in benefits design and performance management
  • Hands-on project manager who can balance strategy and execution

Preferred

  • Background in aviation or other operational industries
  • Familiarity and confidence with software systems
  • Experience supporting both distributed and on-site employees
  • Familiarity with the unique demands of 24/7/365 operations
